Cassim the Jackal

Legacy of the Bieth

Cassim, AKA, the Black Jackal. He was the greatest thief in the Old Khemitian period. No lock, no door, no guard was able to stop him from sneaking into places and stealing precious valuables. His calling card was that of a volcanic glass blown jackal figurine. While the dynasties were fighting for control of Khemit, he took advantage of the strife to collect a small fortune.   In his final theft. one of the greatest, or should have been. The Tome of Pharaoh An Hepsu VII, The Pharaoh of Blades. The discovery of his tomb was invaluable to the current pharaoh families to show their power over the other families. The Pharaoh Amunenhat I was planning an expedition to bring the wealth back to the palace. The Jackal got wind of the discovery and decided to enter the tomb before the Pharaohs and take the treasure. He took a team of 40 men to secretly break in. What they had found was the fortress of An Hepsu VII, converted into his final resting place. An Hepsu had died in battle with the Ostrogoths near this fortress.   While the Jackal was successful in infiltrating the Tomb and avoiding the traps, he had second thoughts after reading how the Pharaoh of Blades defeated the barbarians from across the sea of Baal and protecting the kingdom. He left the Pharaoh's resting place in peace, looting only the lavish gifts and gold in the chambers before it. There was one exception. A fine and unusual blade; one of the many trophies from the Pharaoh's enemies.   What the Jackal didn't know was that the Black Curtain had infiltrated his gang. Of the treasures found in the tomb, it was the fortress itself that held a hidden secret, the Blackstone Mace that the Black Curtain was after. A few days after leaving the tomb, Cassim lead the caravan into the canyons, hoping to avoid any merchants and the Pharaoh's men. Off any trade routes, the Black Curtain struck, poisoning the water barrels. by morning, Cassim's crew were dead or dying. Cassim staggered out of his tent to see the golden face of some unkown pharaoh, the Black curtain cultist.   Even in his poisoned state, Cassim grabbed the only weapon at hand, the unusual blade and fought the cultists. with the last of the custists slain, he removed the golden mask to see who the traitor was. it was Warrik, his friend and closest thing to a brother. He died confused as to how Warrik would betray him.
But death did not come. Between the blade and the Golden Mask, which was gifted magic by Kek, Cassim's Ba moved into the blade imbuing it with his cunning. Time moved on and the Cassim, the Jackal moved into legend as the sand buried the caravan.
