The Kingdom of Heaven

Once there was a world. This world was filled with people called humans. And these humans called their world Earth, and filled it with myriad dreams of the world beyond. For what purpose was their world made and to what end do they carry on? Then one day - the world shattered. For a time, nothing but ruin, chaos, and damnation reigned, as demons from a land called Hell emerged from beneath and sowed destruction, lead by the Morningstar and his Princes. The unfortunate of humanity died in the hellfire. The fortunate, were saved before the destruction. Their creator, their god, removed the souls of those who believed in them, and gave them safety as angels in the White City of Heaven. Those who were neither, survived the world's sundering, and lived on in fear of the demons of Hell and in spite of the angels of Heaven.   And so for three centuries the world lived on. Humanity has began to pull itself back out of the darkness and squeeze out a living on the various floating islands still hanging in the endless sky. At the center is the Nether, or the Circles of Hell. A blood red, glowing sphere, floating where Earth's core once resided. Biding their time, Demonkind still manage the to slip passed the barriers sealing them in the Circles and ravage the countryside. Angelkind still seek to serve their purpose and occasionally leave their sealed White City to kill these creatures and protect and ungrateful humanity.   Magic is commonplace. Dark entities lurk in even the brightest of places. And the Lord of the White City, the One true god has fallen silent. No more fates, no more prophecies. This is not the story of the end of the world. This is the story of what happened after.
