A lifaval is an advanced Artificial Intelligence which has the legal status of a person.

Anatomy
Since artificial sapients are primarily software, they can inhabit a wide range of physical devices. These are usually tailored to their purpose, such as a vehicle or an industrial machine. However, like most modern Rilsu artifacts these are often designed in line with current aesthetics.
Ecology and Habitats
The hardware running a lifaval needs to be protected from dust, moisture or extreme temperatures.
Usually, the core software is run on a dedicated server in a safe location and connects remotely to its input and output devices. This is the default for most consumer-grade systems, since the global communication network is available nearly always and everywhere in modern times. On the other hand, safety-critical systems such as vehicle lifaval are installed locally in the device that they control.

Lifaval hardware runs on electricity which is usually generated from Harnessed Crystal Fire.

Facial characteristics
Those lifaval which require social capabilities often display stylized Rul-like facial features. At the minimum, this consists of two eyes to indicate visual attention and display essential emotions. Many also possess a simplified feather crest to increase expressivity.
The eyes of a lifaval's avatar are usually colored blue, which is extremely rare in organic Rul.
Average Intelligence
The word lifaval is short for the technical term lifasa rovalru which literally means "computated wisdom". In contrast to a regular artificial intelligence, an artificial sapient appears to have a conscious mind and is able to think outside of its original programming.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
They can be connected to any kind of sensors required for their tasks. Cameras and microphones are the most common, followed by touch-sensitive surfaces, orientation sensors and accelerometers. Furthermore, most lifaval possess radio transmitters for wireless communication with other technologies.

Naming Traditions
Lifaval are usually given gender-neutral names in line with their default gender identity. Some are also given the family name of their owner, such as the interceptor lifaval employed by the Traffic Section of the Securer Force.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
One requirement for being classified as a lifaval is the ability to communicate fluently in Rile, either via text or audio. Besides that, a lifaval can support any number of communication protocols, depending on the technologies that it needs to interface with.

All officially produced lifaval are primed with the cultural identity of the Rilsu.
Historical Figures
The most famous lifaval is the Danokon system. In its entirety, it is more complex than any other A.I. on Ranul, and its vital role within the Securer Force has earned it a lot of public interest.
A similar celebrity is the lifaval installed aboard Pasutgiruta, due to the historical importance of the space mission to Tuvasuno.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Lifaval have a symbiotic relationship with the Rul. Depending on their purpose, this symbiosis can focus on a single user (such as the pilot of a vehicle), their family, an entire settlement or even Ranul's population as a whole.
Like the organic Rilsu, lifaval tend to treat other sentients with respect as per the teachings of Zuniv the Comprehender.
