2. Pathfinding

Having rested at Wilhelm's, the Seekers prepared to venture the Silverwood. Mallack and Wilhelm both ready, the Seekers came to the entrance of the Silverwood. A vast expanse of pine forests three paths made their way through each densely overgrown. Following Wilhelm, they went through the Southern path, diverting often onto animal paths and following streams when necessary.   A half day in the party came across one of the infamous Watchtowers of the Silverwood, manned by Leork and his squadron. Wilhelm and Leork, having served together quickly moved beyond the seeming intrusion, however as they were about to begin onwards a scream was heard.   Following Leork's quick response, the party made their way through a poorly made out trail through the woods coming to two men standing around two corpses and a woman tied to a tree. Assessing the situation, Leork quickly learned that the woman and one of the fallen had fallen to the mania. He moved decisively beheading the woman, leaving the two men defensive and bewildered. A brief skirmish broke out, the Seeker's initially unsure who to support, after the death of one of the men the other broke. As he ran Alram lined up a shot, coolly.. robotically paraphrasing his training, 'Die Heretic!' As the man dropped just beyond the treeline.   Thorin began searching the cart being transported. A typical transport of trade goods, a small box made out to the Inquisition Embassy of Grendel was noted and handed to Alram. Walking back to the tower Mallack privately asked Benson to watch Alram having shown an ongoing distrust of his order.   They departed from Leork back at his tower, resuming the journey to Grendel.   Arriving at a tower overgrown, yet recently burned. The Seeker's settled down for the night. Thorin and Donal, swore at various points during the night they saw the treeline move. Donal going to particular trouble to not avert his eyes. In the morning he left a small offering hoping to appease whatever had been awoken.   The remainder of the journey was relatively uneventful, arriving at last at Grendel.
