1. A Dream of things to come.
The flyers were sent to every corner of the isle. Grendel' leader had been assassinated, and the State Gem stolen. So it was a motley group of adventurers met at the small Pis'torian village on Ens on the edge of the Silverwood to meet their contact, one Captain Mallack of Source.
They first met at the Tree Shadows Inn in Ens. Meeting with Mallack and the Mayor Femos they learned of the 'hooded figures' whom had trespassed the woods. They also learned of the conditions in the Silverwood. Apparently the paths had all but overgrown, despite efforts from Grendel's burners. They would need a guide, Wilhelm, a locale would suffice; failing that Cecil the drunk would be their only option.
So they headed to Wilhelm's house, a small woodsman shack slightly outside of town. It did not take long before they realized something was wrong. The house was overgrown, the fireplace unlit.
Venturing inside, they came found Wilhelm suspended in the air. Investigation proved useless as they were suddenly distracted by a loud knock on the door. On opening the door the group found themselves on a beach, Calliope recognized it as Grendel, but something wasn't right.
Everytime they tried to move up or down the beach they made no progress. In the shore a small boy seemed distraught. Comforted by Donal the boy revealed his name was Wilhelm and that his parents had fallen to the Mania. Soon after he was comforted by a friend, Sarah, who handed him a handmade shell necklace. A refraction of light in the ocean caught their eye. As the party moved towards it they found themselves swept away.
Suddenly, their surrounds had changed. They were in a forest. A now teenaged Wilhelm stood alongside a man known as Leork and several others. They were attacked by a pack of wolves. Both noticing and not noticing the party they together took down the pack, including the one wolf which had upon being injured become corrupted by Caedus evolving into a Dire wolf. As they defeated these beasts the forest began to shrink. Running up the now tunnel of woodland they again ran through a refraction of light.
They were again transported this time into a much better cared version of Wilhelm's hut. He stood hunched over a woman crying a seashell necklace clutched in his hand. The woman completely still seemed to have recently passed, the cause unknown.
A light rap on the door and the party were transported back to the present Wilhelm unaware of their intrusions. He agreed to assist them in navigating the Silverwood.
