Wands

Oh, you're curious about wands?
Your host wears an odd wristband. With a flick of the wrist a metal rod slides out of the band and into the hand. The rod has buttons in a row with identifying notches alongside. At the end an antenna, a nozzle, and two lenses all fit tightly into its narrow profile. It's too long to have fit inside the wristband.
Yeah, like this one here. They don't all look like this. 'Wand' is a catch-all term for pocket space devices because, like you might guess, a device that can create portable pocket spaces can store most of its inner workings in a pocket space. It just needs to leave the controls sticking out in a conveniently grip-able shape.   What are wands used for? All kinds of things.
With one button press the wand projects a red-lined image onto the floor. With another press, the air shimmers, and the item depicted in the image appears there. It's an entire oven.
This one is just storage space. I keep too much of my stuff in there, but whenever I think of cleaning it out I think, 'What if I'm away from home and I want to make dinner? Or fabricate a raincoat? Or pilot an aircraft?' That's why I have this wristband attached with a piercing. Wouldn't want to lose it.
Fun Fact
Pocket spaces are one of the interstice's oldest technologies. No trace remains of their original inventors.
The typical wand shape is for manual use. On the other hand some people like mental interfaces and for that you just need a small fob so you don't lose it. But I find it annoying to have too many mental interfaces running at one time. It's too easy for a stray thought to set something off. You'd think we'd have this stuff figured out, but everyone wants to make their interface a little bit different, not compatible with... ugh, where was I?
Fun Fact
You can link multiple storage spaces and sort them automatically.
