Fabricating Wands
Useful for construction, for manufacturing, and for self-defense.
Components
Fabrication method
Some call fabrication wands 'point-and-click manufacturing.' Some call them 'living paintbrushes.' Whatever you call them, they need some means of altering the world.
Examples- Crystalize
Seeds a crystal and rapidly grows it with the input materials. - Germinate
Plants a seed or accelerates the maturation of preexisting organisms. - Forge
Constructs an item according to a preset blueprint.
- Crystalize
Input
A wand's input is usually just the materials needed to create the output via the method given.Output
A wand's output is a set item/material in a set area of effect. Depending on fabrication method, the output may continue growing after placement.
Examples- Barrier
Builds a wall, bridge, column, or similarly simple structure. - Paint
Allows the user to sketch a shape then builds a structure in that shape. - Fling
Fabricates an item then flings it at high speed.
- Barrier
Power source
Wands are not perpetual motion devices. They need a power source.
Examples- Manual
You are the power source. - Electric
Battery power. - Dissonance
The wand generates its own power from the dissonance between clashing realities. Everywhere in the interstice has some amount of dissonance, but high-powered applications require a dangerous amount.
- Manual
Modifiers
Any other components.
Examples- Destructive
Conventionally, wands stop fabricating if the new structure would collide with and destroy an existing surface. That safety feature can be removed. - Hover
Automatically shapes gravity to allow unsupported construction. - Temporary
Sets fabricated structures to harmlessly self-destruct after a given interval. - Reinforced
Improves durability or adds other forms of protection.
- Destructive
