The Interregnus

Cells are born and one day must die. Bonds are formed which will one day break. Men are born to one day vanish. Castles erected which must reduce to dust. Systems charted which will one day break. Gods are born and will die. Species will rise to the pinnacle of civilization and innovation, to one day go extinct. Though we struggle daily to break the cycle, what we truly strive for is Time.   Organisms struggle to live just one more day. Empires fight to endure another decade. Species adapt to endure another century. And Gods will strive to be remembered and worshipped and survive eons, but they too will eventually vanish. Dust to dust. All will be as it was. But it is in this struggle, and its unavoidable hopelessness, that everything finds its purpose. This is the Interregnus. Go forth, and seize your purpose, for Time is fleeting.
