Tavil-class Ship
The Tavil-class is a common form of Kvukri bio-engineered spacecraft used to travel from place to place. The Tavil is a flexible vessel, designed with modularity to allow for use in many fields. To distinguish different Tavil-classes based on their purpose, a vessel is called an X-pattern Tavil-class (such as the Amni-pattern Tavil-class for pure ship-to-ship fighting). The Tavil is not the largest vessel type, measuring roughly 500 feet long, 50 feet across and 50 feet tall (approximately 152 meters long, 15 meters across and 15 meters tall) with an approximate crew size of a little under 300 humanoid drone and/or clones, with at most 30 full Kvukri as the officer cadre. The vessel is equipped with four 'Hammerhand' main cannons on port and starboard sides for its main weapons, though currently these system are generally left out or allowed to degrade as there are no other spacefaring groups besides the Concord in Kazed. The hull is made of hard bone plates, in contrast to many common designs using chitin (the vessels of the competing Nosok House for example always use chitin). The Tavil-class is frequently made with several large cavities in which food, water and other essential supplies are put in and then sealed until needed during long voyages.
History
The vessel is a major redesign of the widely available Shevit-class first introduced by Ishtanir House in the early expansion days of the Homeworld Domains. The Tavil was initially created by Mekhnir House prior to them joining the early Concord as one of their last attempts to gain favor with greater Houses and the reigning Ar-mot Emperor. While this endeavor failed in its original intent, the Mekhnir's new design caught the attention of the four earliest founders of the Concord: the Houses of Zma'ev, Bnitev, Nusud and Bayeh. The leaders of these clans approached the Mekhnirs with an offer: alter the design for modularity and long-term interstellar travel and they would be welcomed into the great project of the Four, to set out to a new system and settle it for themselves. The Mekhnirs agreed, since their final gambit had failed and were able to wrestle one last concession from their newfound fellows: the Mekhnir family would gain a dominant position in the ship-building industry of the Concord and maintain total control over their own line of ship designs. As the initial settlement of Kazed progressed, the Mekhnir got exactly what they desired. The Tavil became the main vessel type used and most all new ship designs were derived from it or based on new Mekhnir created designs. Only the Houses of Bezda and Nosok attempted to present genuine competition against the Mekhnir monopoly on ship creation in Kazed.
