Gemke Station
Gemke Station is one of the main void stations made by the Concord that lie not in orbit of a planet or moon but hanging in the void around Kazed. Specifically, Gemke Station orbits between Tzamtzo and Mayam. It acts as a major way-station for traffic from the heavily settled outer system heading towards the inner system.
The station was built out of a large asteroid (known as 5-Gemke, hence the station's name) as its original base, though as it has grown and expanded the asteroid has slowly been replaced by the structural components of Gemke. Gemke was the first major effort by the Concord to establish an outpost outside of the planetary clusters of Mayam and Kmiyel. The station saw the Houses of Zma'ev, Iyah, Kamnal, Mekhnir and Davi'-Ulom as the principal drivers for creating and sustaining the outpost. The station also functions as a mining outpost, growing as it slowly harvests the asteroid it is built into. In the modern period, the asteroid is still visible in areas but has otherwise been subsumed by the station, which has converted said raw materials into usable products to send to other outposts or the Concord's domains in the outer system.
Gemke Station is shaped roughly like a large diamond, with a vertical axis ending at two poles (its 'north' and 'south' poles) and the overall structure spiralling up from the 'equator' to said poles. Due to the heavy influence of House Mekhnir, Gemke Station is built out of bone from the outer hull to in the innermost compartments (in contrast to many standards of traditional Kvukri design). Unlike other station designs, Gemke's docking areas for ships are located at its wide equator (most stations use the poles instead to avoid the strong rotational effects seen at the equator). To ease the landing procedure, a complex series of webs and tentacle growths are used to grab and pull docking ships into the station.
The station is somewhat reliant on imported biomass and rare resources that are not easily produced or can't be made on the station, though primary essentials such as food and water can be easily made on site.
