The Great Bridge of Hylia Building / Landmark in The Hylian Fantasy | World Anvil

The Great Bridge of Hylia

The single largest and oldest bridge in Hyrule, the Bridge of Hylia spans the length of Lake Hylia from north to south, connecting Central Hyrule with Faron Province.   The bridge is regularly patrolled by members of the Hyrule Guard, ensuring safe passage for the regular travelers and merchants across the lake. The bridges central feature, a decorative fountain in the middle of an expanded section, serves as a makeshift trade post. The bridge is framed on both ends by tall, two towered gate houses. The Southern Gatehouse is currently undergoing reconstruction, while the Northern Gatehouse serves as the headquarters for the Bridge Garrison.   This ancient, majestic bridge is the single safest and most reliable route of travel between Hyrule and Faron.

Purpose / Function

To span Lake Hylia, providing efficient, protected travel and trade across the largest inland body of water.

Alterations

The original bridge did not contain the central fountain area that now serves as a marketplace, being added on some time in the late 7000's GE.
