Roost Song Tradition / Ritual in The Hylian Fantasy | World Anvil

Roost Song

A rite of passage and mating call performed by members of the Rito. The most well known display of this rite is performed annually at Warbler's Nest. Once a Rito enters their mating years, usually around 18-20 years of age, they perform an intricate song of their own creation. This is done in the Retifa Language of the Rito. The musical language combined with additional effects from the nearby Whistling Stones creates a stunningly beautiful crescendo of noise for an entire day. Male and female performers dance as they sing, seeking out a song that compliments their own, eventually ending as only the whistling stones remain. Sometimes, a hand ful of members of one sex may remain. They return in subsequent years to continue their search for a lifelong mate.   The performance of the Roost Song has become so well known at Warbler's Nest that travelers and merchants also flock to the area, setting up the merchant camp of Talon Step south of Warbler's Nest, along Passer Hill.
