Zemira

Queen of Succubi, Warden of The Infinite Chasm Zemira

The halls of the inner sanctum glowed an uneasy orange hue, as the firelight from across the city shone brightly through the stained windows, a figure can be seen entering through a large wooden door at the far end of the hall, their foot falls tap heavily upon the dark marble floor, their pace is quickening with each step as their gaunt, cloaked frame comes into view. It is an old crone, her skin is a dusky reddish orange and her hair drapes down from her hooded shawl like fine spindly threads of silver, as her two large curved horns of ebony curl up to suspend her hood just a few inches from its apex, allowing for a faint glimpse of her aged face and long pointed nose. In her skeletal hands is clutched tightly a black grimoire emblazed with a silver serpent with jade eyes. She stops abruptly part way down the hall, as silence regains its hold over the ebony marbled columns and tattered blood red drapes of the hall. She holds the book tight to her chest as she slows her breathing and turns right to face the door, it is large and made of the finest lacquered mahogany, trimmed with filings of dark steel and dull silver, crafted to form to pentagrams with a serpents head at their center. The crone goes to bang the large serpentine knocker against the door, but she is halted in her motion by a loud creaking, as the door opens seemingly on its own, a thin sliver of light stabs the crones eyes as the light of the interior chamber floods out into the hall. At once a soothing velvet voice booms through the space "You may enter Vizier. But only if you have what I have asked for.", the crone responds in a hushed gravel tone as if her vocal cords had been scraped against coarse stones "Yes Mistress, I have what you requested, the Grimoire of Eras The Eternal, last priest of the Silent Serpent.", as the crone speaks she walks slowly toward the origin of the voice. There at the far end of the chamber upon a beautifully carved throne of black wood and red cushions sits the ruler of the demonic city of Pravus, Zemira Queen of Succubi. Vizier finds her way to the foot of the stairs leading to Zemira's throne, she kneels and raises her hands up toward her mistress, offering the grimoire to her. Zemira stands to her full height and out stretches her black, bat like wings that fill the space and blanket the room in a strange red tinge, as she begins to walk toward the crone she asks "Do you know the significance of what you have brought Vizier?", shocked at the inquiry Vizier stammers in her place, and begins to tremble for the answer to this riddle is unknown to even her. "No mistress. I do not know of this tome’s import to you, but if my mistress wishes for something then it is my duty to acquire it for her." vizier mutters in an almost frantic tone. "This grimoire once belonged to my father’s staunchest of worshipers, a powerful archmage who eventually achieved lichdom and now serves my father as one of his agitators upon the mortal plane. I'm aware that you know not of The Lord of Lies, or of his subordinates, as you yourself are a servant of The Corruptor, and only do what I ask due to my position." Zemira hisses in a steady, calm, but threatening tone. "Mistress I serve you because you are the light within my life, within all of Pravus, you are the one who saved us from our madness and from our damnation, I serve you because the alternative would be an eternity damned to wander and be hunted in a mad stupor." the crone pleaded, no answer came for some time as Zemira plucked the grimoire gently from the feeble hands of the crone, as she walked back to her throne, her tail began to flick from side to side, in an almost amused manner, the crone's eyes grew wide as she clutched her throat. Bright red liquid began to trickle quietly and genteelly from a small incision across her jugular. as she began to cough and gasp for breath, she gurgled one final utterance "Mistress. Why?", Zemira, without turning, stopped just before her throne and replied to this old sinner’s dying wish "because you learned the truth of your task. Because you completed the circle that many before you completed. Because you answered my inquiry like all the others before you have. I am a great many things crone, but a fool is not one of them, you may claim to serve me due to some blind love, as one would love a deity. But I am neither divine nor a deity, I am the daughter of the Lord of Lies. Zemira Queen of All Succubi and Warden of the Infinite Chasm, and ruler of the city of Pravus and you are just another tool that was needed for my plan. Take these last words to heart vizier and die quietly.", and Zemira turned, sat and began to flip through the pages of her new grimoire as the crone slowly bled to death at her feet.

Personal history

Zemira is the first daughter of Saffrax, The Lord of Lies and Lord of The Wailing Void, as such she is the queen of all succubi who are Saffrax's spawn. She lived within the Wailing Void with her father and acted as his greatest warden, keeping the many different demons and wardens in line with the machinations of their lord, throughout this time The Lord of Lies became entwinned with Relka The Corruptor the mad lord of The Infinite Chasm, this entwining manifested into a feudal war. With the corruptor attempting to gain a foot hold into the void, the war escalated to the point that it threated the ruin of both layers. It ended with the signing of the Pact of Veils a formal agreement between the lords to end the aggression, and as collateral for this deal, Relka gave to Saffrax her greatest warden, a powerful Pit Fiend named Dorgan. And in return Saffrax gave Ralka his greatest warden, his eldest daughter Zemira. She spent eons in the Infinte Chasm as a captive, a plaything for the mad desires and envious punishments of Relka, but even a being as mad as Relka can know boredom if the toy breaks, but due to her status and her father, Zemira was saved from oblivion. She was freed, though her mind and body were already too far gone to be recognized as what she was when she entered that hell. At the end she gave into her most instinctual desires and became a lust mad creature, a true denizen of the chasm. In recent centuries she has regained a faint shadow of her former self, and has risen to the position of warden of the layer, she currently rules over the demonic city of Pravus after she usurped the former ruler, a cunning and manipulative Orthon named Dengol.

Accomplishments & Achievements

She was once the crown jewel of the Wailing Void, her fathers first born and the greatest of his wardens. Now she only retains her title as the Queen of All Succubi, though now she is one of the most powerful wardens of the infinite chasm.

Failures & Embarrassments

Zemira promised her father when the feudal war began that she would bring back Relka's head, as a means to honor her father and finally put an end to that lunatics erratic rule and end the threat she possessed to the Abyss. Zemira found her chance on one of the main islands of the void, a place called the Tyrant's Nail, there Zemira and thirty of her younger sisters and their armies did battle with Relka's main force, headed by the Sanguine Titan Dorgan, Relka's greatest warden and the lead general of her invasion force. The battle was long and brutal and by the end Zemira had lost twenty-three of her sisters and nearly two thirds of her army, while Relka had received reinforcements and now outnumbered them five to one. Zemira was getting ready for one final stand, to challenge the Corruptor to a duel to decide the outcome of the battle and the war, but the Corruptor only answered with a charge of her forces forcing the seething Zemira to retreat deeper into the void. This defeat and the subsequent losses of hundreds more of her sisters by the end of the war, galvanized her hatred for Relka and cemented her fear of disappointing her father, so when her time to be traded came, she accepted the punishment without qualm or objection. Though she could not hide the feeling of abandonment from her father.

Mental Trauma

She was kept in the citadel of Relka called The Cage for many eons, under constant torture both psychological and physical, the likes of which no mortal could or should imagine. Even when her consciousness retreated into the deep recesses of her mind, the corruptor did not relent, only when she was fully broken, body and mind was she released from Relka's "care". Zemira fell deep into her own mind, choosing madness over finding answers to senseless torture and manipulation, all that remained was her hatred for Relka and her ever present urge to please her father, she became self-loathing, seeing this as punishment for her failings during the war, these thoughts plagued her for untold centuries creating a creature that was only a faint shadow of what once ruled alongside one of the Demon Lords. A creature that hated itself almost as much if not more than it hated the one who did this to her. She remained this creature of pure desire and bitterness until she came face to face with one of her sisters in a brothel within the city of Pravus, in time her sister named Lago drew forth the real Zemira, or what was left of her. This Zemira was different, spiteful and self-loathing, though this was overshadowed by a seething rage toward Relka and her Wardens, after this she went on a war path, killing her way through Pravus until she reached the throne room of the Warden of Pravus, without uttering a word she lulled the brute into a blissful sleep after bedding him, and while he slept off his lustful stupor she slit his throat with his own blade. After that she became the new Warden of Pravus and with this power a new side of her had emerged, a cold and calculated side, a sadistic quirk that had only come to light after the murder of the Orthon. She began to view everything like an elaborate game, and all those who served her be they sister or otherwise was simply a piece on the game board, all of which was expendable and could be replaced at a moment’s notice. Over the centuries she began to truly enjoy manipulating and using the little pieces of her cruel game of power, becoming more and more sadistic and cold, her favorite method was using those who had a fanatical vision of her, those who saw her as their savior or their one way ticket out of the Abyss, or whatever other nonsense they rationalized in their ceaseless madness. She loved twisting their vision of her and watching their betrayed expressions slowly turn to the void of oblivion, as if it were recompense for the hell she had been through, and after all it feels good to be on the other end of the rope for a change.
