Cult of the Unliver

The Cult of the Unlive is a small orcish offshoot from the Whispering Way. In the 600 years of orcish subjugation during the Cold, the Whispering Way forced its religious tenets onto the conquered orcs. For many, it took force. For others, it took only persuasion to join the Whispering Way.

Structure

In the interest of secrecy, clans who belong to the Cult act as normal clans. But beneath the facades, the Cult's strict hierarchy reigns over all.   The Cult is divided in 7 layers, at the top is the Akuaz (Highest Teacher) who is the most knowledgeable in the ways of necromancy and the most secretive figure of the order. Below them are in order, the Akuas-Tor (Higher Teacher), the Akuas-Fir (Lower Teacher), the Siluas-Tor (Higher Students), the Siluas-Fir (Lower Students). These are dedicated to the learning and teachings of necromancy, ranking individuals according to their aptitudes. The climb in rank can only be approved by approval from someone higher in rank.   Two ranks exist separate of the main structure and they are the Thluk (Reapers) and the Taran (Assassins), also operating under the Akuaz. Their main occupation are providing bodies, with Thluk capturing live specimens and Taran procuring corpses.

History

It was in the scar left upon the orcs' collective unconscious by the Cold that the Cult took root. Following Tar-Baphon's defeat, most orcs tried to return to their lifestyle but those which had been persuaded over to the Whispering Way's tenets formed the Cult.   The connections to the Whispering Way have grown tenuous, making the cult a more singular entity with loose ties to the larger order. The Cult remains secretive and clans which follow its tenets rarely show any sign of doing so at first.

Tenets of Faith

Similar to the Whispering Way's preachings, the Cult believes in the Unliving State being the supreme expression of orcish kind. They argue for this using the increased aggression with which unliving orcs throw themselves into battle, deeming it superior to the instinct of self preservation all mortal creatures possess.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The presence of the Cult's Thluk and Taran on the border between the Hold of Belkzen and Ustalav actively contributes to worsening the conflict between orcs and humans.   The Cult utilises conflict rich environments to send their thluk and taran to procure them with unliving orcs and corpses both human and orcish. Despite this, the exact extent of the Cult's influence on the regions it is involved in is unknown and their headquarters are impossible to find, if they even have any.
