Elf

Elves are a strange people. Their similarity to humans just about ends at their appearance, and no one quite knows what makes them as magical as they are. If the Elves know, they certainly aren't telling.

Elves at first resemble tall, lithe humans with pointed ears, but upon closer inspection their features become distinctly nonhuman in a way that's hard to describe. They possess strong inherent magic, including a natural resistance to charms and the ability to trance instead of sleep, and are adept in the ways of the great southern jungles where they mostly live. They are nimble and dexterous, built for short bursts of action, and their eyes are sharp and easily penetrate the darkest of nights. Elves are rare on the High North Coast; most that are found there are traders, and they seldom go farther north or east than Wavemeet.

Anatomy

Most elves stand between 5 and 6 feet tall. They have very slender builds, and generally weigh 100 to 145 pounds. Their skin and hair can be an extremely wide range of colors. Elves live for well over 700 years.

Elves average 5'8", and usually weigh 100 to 145 pounds. They can have a wide range of skin colors, from pale to tan, and including shades of copper and bronze. Their hair is similarly wide-ranging, including black, brown, green, and blue, though blond and red hair are extremely rare. Elves have extremely long lifespans, commonly reaching over 700 years.

Elves are rare in the High North Coast. Their southern homelands are a place of great jungles and forests, where the elves are said to live in cities suspended between the trees.

Fey Ancestry.

You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.

Trance.

Elves don't need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is "trance.") While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
