The Heart

The Night of Eternal Fire and the Winter of Darkness, cast people of all sorts out into the seas as their land became sour and sick. People grabbed what they could as the lands were drenched in fire. Famine and disease tore its foul fangs into the people who survived the first of the catastrophes.    Few found the atoll that would be their bastion. A great many were lost in the voyage. As people tried to rebuild, so too did beasts that made their way from the shores of Karnaca. The remaining people united to kill the beasts in their nests, but alas, the wilds belong to the beasts.    It has been five generations since our forefathers settled the Heart. Famine and overpopulation are day to day occurrences.Individuals eke out a dull and often short existence.  People of all kinds live in squalor, as the ever encroaching beasts lash at our borders. As civil unrest grows, more and more are being thrown to the wolves each day.
