The Haunted Stars

The year is 2180. Humanity has spread to all the planets of the solar system, laying colonies down in the most inhospitable places they had ever seen. Humanity has broken the light-speed barrier, spreading to the very stars, laying claim to planets at distances so far removed as to be beyond the bounds of the collective imagination just a century before. Humanity has ventured farther and faster than ever before, in search of new life, and new planets.   For better or for worse, only new homes have been found, and the realization that mankind is truly alone in the Universe.   The year is 2290, and the Pax Terra has come to an end, shattered by men with desires far greater than a single planet could contain. War has brought an end to an age undreamed of in the history of mankind, and instead brought death and devastation to the stars. Warmachines, mechanical monsters with unheard of power ravage cities, grinding entire populations to dust.   Now. The year 2299. Mankind’s greatest war is at an end, but peace has not been restored. The hyperspace routes that enabled travel from one world to another have been reclaimed by a menace far more terrifying than anything else we have encountered. At long last, the life that humanity has searched so long for has found us, and found us wanting.   Disparate peoples, stranded on the specks of dirt that they claimed as home, pray for salvation from the terrors that for so long went bump in the night, our grand toils going without notice.
