Acid Dragons are long hexapod lizards covered in thick black scales. their evolution has made them master of stealth attacks on the night side of the planet. The rustling of the local flora covers the scratching of claws on the dirt. The dragon and has four finger each ending in a long claw anything from 8-12 inches in length.   Acid Dragons have toxin sacs located deep in the throat cavity of the dragon. These liquid from these separate sacs combine together in the dragon's mouth to create a highly corrosive acid which is then spat at targets.

Growth Rate & Stages

Eggs - Acid Dragons nest are found in recently landed meteorites, the mothers dig deep in the walls of the craters and bury the eggs in the warm soil to absorb the heat. It takes roughly six weeks for the eggs to hatch. Villages close to the boarder are known to hunt across the boarder to steal eggs and return them to sell them to rich nobles as pets and riding beasts or to be taken off world to be used as fighting beasts.   juvenile - For the first five years while the dragon grow they are considered as juveniles. Highly aggressive they will attack anything, it is also at this time that acid is most potent, captured dragons are often milked for the acid they produce to help with priest-smiths engrave the star metal. The juveniles will fight with other acid dragons to establish dominance. These fights are to the death and the victor will consume the defeated.   Maturity - At five years the Acid Dragons are considered fully grown and fully mature. Now they are at their most vicious. It is also at this point that they make great riding beasts and pit beasts should they be tamed as newborns.

Ecology and Habitats

Cold blooded by nature they are found around the recent impact sites of meteorites or by the exposed lava veins. They soak up the heat and once properly heated can function several weeks without needing to find another heat source.   Older Acid Dragons can last months without a source of heat if needed. They tend to make their lairs in caves and den dug out of the cater walls to allow them to be close to heat sources. As such once the heat is gone completely, the dragons will move on to their next heat source.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Acid Dragons are carvenerous by nature, they then to prey on smaller Acid Dragons as well as the other local predators and creatures in the deadlands. The dragons are know to make hunting excursions on to the light side of the planet to prey on towns close to the dark side.   They are also well know for eating the local mutants found on the dark side.   The Acid Dragons needs to eat regularly, at least daily.

Biological Cycle

Acid Dragons are extremely long lived if they survive to maturity. Longest recorded live span of an Acid Dragons is 457 years. They grow quickly and reach full size within 5 years. Extremely vicious, they attack and eat anything they consider weaker than themselves.   The Acid Dragons do not hibernate, instead spending longer times at the lava veins to help control their temperatures. As the acid dragons grow older they require longer spells of heat but can last much longer away when fully restored.   The Acid Dragons' scales once maturity is reached the scales continue to thicken and become denser providing more protection to the Dragons. Their claws and teeth are known to fall out but regrow incredibly quickly usually fully gown within two months.   As they progress in years their acid spit becomes more toxic and deadly, becoming more corrosive. It is believed that truly ancient Acid dragons acid can even fully eat through forged Uthra metal given enough time.
