The Greater Firmament

The world has long since shattered. Where once every acre and seaway had been claimed as a sovereign’s territory, now there are only scattered holdings of distant descendants. After countless years, nature eagerly reclaimed the tall and sprawling cities, erasing the memory of millions. What survivors there were from that time endured but did not preserve the means of their civilizations’ end. From the frigid north of the Borealis Expanse to the southern fringes of Titan’s Sash, an expansive chain of islands that circumvent the world, the lands hosted sparse populations of people. Secluded from each other by distance and hardships, cultures and races splintered, disintegrated or blended as chaos dictated.   And yet...   Just within a short span of generations, there has been a nascent resurgence of the idea of society at large- that there are people on the other side of the Firmament that live and breathe as you do. And though you may never meet them, their life could impact your own. But the remnants of a lost age, tainted and baneful, persist only to halt this progress by many cruel means. It is unclear if the ancient horrors seek to destroy life and the cultivation of knowledge out of a true desire or mindless existence...but it is certain that every creature should fear them. Each heart that prevails within the Greater Firmament labors to live and thrive, despite the evils that seek to arrest them.
