The Egg

Summary

The ruins of Chicago have given rise to turf wars between warring raider gangs. One location that has become a bed of combat is the ruins of Millennium Park. Once a tourist attraction with gorgeous art pieces, now is a war zone. Warring factions fight not just for control of the land, but for The Egg. The Egg has existed long before The Great War. The denizens of the wastelands no longer remember its original name, but due to its shape, wastelanders refer to the structure as The Egg. The Egg is a large structure - that some say looks more like a bean than an egg - made entirely out of stainless steel. The day of The Great War, when the bombs fell, witnesses near The Egg were absorbed into the structure as if by a vacuum.
Theories regarding The Egg run wild. Some believe that The Egg is a cosmic deity awaiting for the day when it can awaken. Others believe that The Egg is an experiment created by the U.S. military or Vault-Tec. No one can be certain. However, there are two things about The Egg that have been observed since The Great War. During radstorms, anyone near The Egg will be absorbed. Secondly, The Egg gives off radiation. 
What lies within The Egg? Only time will tell.

The mysteries of The Egg have reached far and wide across The Great Lakes Wastelands. The local chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel is considering sending a recon team to determine the validity of the myths surrounding The Egg.

Cultural Reception

Although the raider gangs warring over Millennium Park believe The Egg to be a potential weapon, wastelanders across Chicago believe the legends and stories of The Egg to be purely fictional. Regardless, raiders across Chicago truly believe that there is more to The Egg than they could ever imagine.
