We are off to war song

We march down the streets   Of cities and towns,   Swaying our mighty guns   With our brothers in arms,   We wave away with our final say   We are off to war.     Three hundred days   Three hundred nights,   In the darkness of space   We pray for light,   We wish we are home   With our families,   Sadly we will never return.     I stood in the lands   Of life and decay,   Roles of tanks and men   Stood shoulder to shoulder,   We aim our guns   At the armless enemy,   We gave them holy fire   That painted the fields in red,   We left them behind   To drown in their sorrows,   And we are off to kill again.     Three hundred days   Three hundred nights,   In the darkness of space   We pray for light,   We wish we are home   With our family,   Sadly we will never return.     Unwearied men gathered around   For the news of home and our family,   We sang and praise they remember us   But sadden when we heard,   Our mothers have forgotten us   And wished we never come home.     Three hundred cried   Three hundred died,   In a hopeless world   We pray to come home,   Yet we are exiled   Doomed to play the game of war,   So we give you all our final farewell.     The soldiers of the United Galaxy sing this song when they know they have no hope in coming home.

Author's Notes

I want to space them out like a normal poem. But doing that would automatically make them clump up together into a ugly mess. So I made them spaced out like this to make it look “neat”. If you know what I’m talking about and know how to fix this problem please tell me.
