Sporgs

These creatures, I've never seen a large beast like them in my life. They go through space like a sea serpent and will devour anything that gets in their way or is a threat to them. They are hard to kill, their skin is thick and rough, and we can't detect them by traditional means. Ironically they are ambush predators, and we are their prey.
— Star Captian Galla-lo
Sporgs are the galaxy's most massive living creature, they are able to reach the size of planets and stars. They are easily adaptable to survive the harshness of space by converting the extreme heat and radiation to benefit the Hive creatures inside.   In combat, the sprog can easily be beaten by Spacecraft weaponry, but what gives them the advantage is they are unable to be seen by traditional means, they cannot be detected by thermal signatures, radar, or any other Spaceship detection methods. Meaning the sporg can only be detected by sight; this gives the sporg the advantage to easily sneak up on spaceships to destroy and damage them.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The species are long and large with a random placement of bone and vital organs throughout the body. A sporg would have a brain, a heart, one lung, five large empty pockets known as bio-pockets, a stomach, and multiple gas bypass.   The Hive will use the organs to help the sporg stay alive. They will use organs like the bio-pockets and the lungs as a living space for the Hive creatures and it's ecosystem. They primarily use the lung of the creature to keep the plants alive and the creatures in the sporg with an unlimited supply of oxygen.   Sporgs do have a mouth of some sort, the mouth will be different for each sporgs. Some sporgs would have a beak, others would have a mouth with our without teeth. The same would go for extra limbs, like tentacles, arms, or claws.

Biological Traits

Sporgs are able to be resistant to extreme temperatures. The highest temperature being over 50 million degrees Celsius, how they achieve it is their skin using the radiation of a star as a fusion of some sort and turn the radioactive material into small amounts of UV radiation for the creatures within the sporg without being in contact with a star.   Sporgs are also able to grow and mutate continually over a short period of time. Because of this constant mutation and growth, they are unable to age. There are some theories that the continuous growth and modification might be the reason the Pure Born exist.   If a sporg eats any meteors or parts of spaceships. They will store them in the stomach, the materials will both help the sporg digest the food it is given by the Hive but will also use the materials as projectiles if the sporg is in danger.

Genetics and Reproduction

Sprogs can’t reproduce by themselves, they need assistance from other species within the Hive to aid them to reproduce. For a sporg to reproduce, they will shoot an apolitical cord to the planet’s surface, after three months the sporg would detach from the cord and would continue travelling through space. The umbilical cord when it's attached to the sprog would be used by the Hive species to travel from the planet to the inside of the sporg, during the travel from planet to sporg the Hive creatures would leave organic material behind. The organic material would be absorbed into the apolitical cord. When the umbilical cord is detached from the sporg the top part of the umbilical cord would start growing and developing the sporg which will take roughly over five years.

Growth Rate & Stages

For the sporg to be able to travel through space and create apolitical cords it will take around five years.

Ecology and Habitats

The natural habitat of the sporg is the darkness of space. They are unable to survive on any planet because the creature would die from their own weight.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The creature is an omnivore, able to eat any biological material. The creature will be feed by the Hive themselves by placing biological material into the stomach of the creature, usually being the dead or waste.

Biological Cycle

The sporgs natural cycle will be different depending on the amount of biological material the umbilical cord has absorbed during its time of birth. But the sporg all follow the three basics of their own biological cycle. Umbilical cord, detached and grown. The first stage will last for three months or longer depending on the amount of Hive members that are going to enter the sporg. When the umbilical cord is detached and is floating in space the top of the umbilical cord will start developing another sporg with the assistance of the Hive species on the planet feeding the umbilical cord with biological material. This will last for proximally five years or longer depending on what biological material is added for the growth of the sporg. The final stage of the sporg is when the sporg is fully grown and able to fly through space, beyond that point the sporg will constantly grow and develop abilities that will benefit the creature or serve a purpose within the Hive, like planet killing or having extra bio-pockets.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The Hive uses the sprogs as a natural space transport vessel. The Hive would make the sporgs has a space defence system to defend a Hive planet from anything that can threaten the ecosystem.

Average Intelligence

The average sporg aren’t that intelligent, they only go off basic instincts which is to move in one direction, fart, and not die. The rest of the functions and maintenance is by other Hive creatures that live in it.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

If a sporg has any eyes attached, their eyesight would be brilliant compared to any other species in the galaxy. Their average view distance is over 100 thousand kilometres, they are also able to see in infrared. Sporgs are however are unable to taste, hear, touch, or feel pain.   Sporgs have a natural ability to keep magical energy in their bodies, no one knows precisely how they are able to do such a thing. Some people theorise that the creature might have a small connection with the realm of the dead, or the creature is able to create their own realm of the dead.   Sporgs can also create artificial gravity to make a living in the sporg somewhat bearable. It might be created by the sporg manipulating magical energy, other theories suggest it might be the hive gods living in the creature creating artificial gravity, but it’s unknown which theory is correct.

Conservation Status
Sporgs cannot survive on their own, so they need assistance from creatures within the Hive to maintain its health and vital functions. The Hive would feed the sporg by throwing the dead into the stomach, and regulate the hearts rhythm. The Hive will also plant flora around the lung to give the the creatures within the sporg oxygen.   Sporgs don’t have a real immune system, so they rely on smaller creatures to help the sporg heal internal wounds and infections. The sporg would also need help to maintain its brain functions, this is also when the Hive control where the creature moves.

"Sporgs are the galaxies most massive living creature" are you refering to multiple galaxies or a single galaxy genetive? The first should be "Galaxies' " the second should be "galaxy's ".   You state that they attack space ships. For what reason? Sustenance? Do they eat space ships? Are they intelligent and antagonistic?

Sporgs attack spaceships for two reasons.   1) They are a threat to the creature and the ecosystem. If a sporg takes out a spaceship, it will guarantee the survival of the ecosystem on the planet and in the sprog itself.   2) I just added it, but they use spaceship parts to help the creature digest and to be as projectiles against other spaceships.   Sporgs can be antagonistic, while they are simple creatures they are smart enough to ambush spaceships then to battle against them head-on.

While this article might still be barebones, I still see a lot of potential in it. Pardon me if My feedback is not good enough because Its over 1 am here and i am sleepy as hell First off, You could definitely use a quote to describe these beings . It would be useful for dragging the reader in and catching their attention at the first glance. I do like the info on the sidebar and the picture though. Definitely allows one to See and picturise the Sporgs in their minds. I have the same question as tobs here though. Why do they attack space ships? Still congratulations and keep up the great work!

They attack spaceships because they propose a threat to the Hive ecosystem. They will also use the parts of the spaceships to help the creature digest and to use them as projectiles if they are threatened. But thanks for the criticisms. =)

I love space critters, especially as ships. These are no exception. The flow was a little clunky at times and could use a little bit of reworking but it didn't effect me too much. I like that you really go into detail on their anatomy and life cycle. This is where my main question comes from: why on earth...or in space I guess, would a creature adapted to life in the void need a lung...and why specifically one. I feel like I missed something while reading but can't find any explanation. Lol is it to facilitate its own ecosystem inside?

Thanks for your feedback and like this giant space whale.   I forgot to add details that would explain why they have a lung, so I fixed the article to explain why they have a lung. Basically, they use the lung to keep the ecosystem and the creatures in the sporg alive.

That's what I figured. I thought I'd point it out. We all go world blind. XD i hope I helped. You have a good one.
