ProTech's Pulse Rifle

The ProTech Pulse Rifle is a combination of kinetic and energy weaponry. The weapon has the strengths of kinetic and energy, making the weapon favoured by United Galaxy soldiers, for being the best weapon to hunker down and defend a position.   The weapon has the following specifications:
  • The weapon can fire in semi or full auto.
  • The rate of fire of the weapon in full automatic is 650 - 850 rounds per minute.
  • The standard magazine can carry 75 rounds, the weapon can also be feed with an ammunition belt.
  • The weapon uses cartridge magnet tips .17 HMR ammunition.
  • The weapon gives off minimal recoil and spread, making the weapon very accurate.
  • The weapon is able to be used in any type of environment without being clean.
  • The maximum effective distance is over 500 meters.
  • The muzzle velocity is over 5000 ft/second.
  • The weapons have a peep sight to aid the soldier for aiming.
  • The weapon is easily customisable, having a small rail system around the gun's barrel. This gives the soldier the opportunity to customise it to suit their needs in any given situation.
  • The stock of the weapon can be attached and detached to aid the soldier in urban combat.
  • The weapon will fire a small beam of heat which is 45 Degrees Celsius with an effective range of 100 meters.
  • The weapon’s short beam of heat modulator acts as a small magnetic rail system which aids the bullet travelling further and faster. It also has a tendency to heat the tip of the bullet.
The weapons are very bulky and large. For the weapon to be sent off for war, it will be tested to see if the weapon is safe for the user. The weapon is known to be perfect for open combat but is criticised for being dreadful in compact areas. Like jungles, cities and towns. Because the weapon is too big and causes too much trouble for the soldier to use in these environments. The weapon cannot have any sort of barrel attachments. Meaning the user can’t attach a suppressor or silencer to make the weapon stealthier. The weapon is purely designed for trench warfare. The weapon is however very reliable, safe, and deadly compared to other weapons in the galaxy. But the problems of the weapon is purely situational.

I like that you say that this weapon is use only for defence because in space (void space )this weapon wouldn't work, but an interesting thing about this weapon concept is the fact that into an atmosphere environment it will make invisible projectiles, it maybe don't sound so important but if in your world exist and super laser printer (the USA military want to create an property of it and use it in mass, the idea about this thing is that wen an project come to close to the device the laser pointer will attack the projectile in wen it is in the air and destroy ,it is a very good defence device )the laser printer will be useless against invizibile kinetic projectiles, this will make the weapon very viable

Sounds interesting but is it shooting an energy blast with the .17HMR or is the round based on .17 but is maybe caseless? Or does it shoot one or the other depending on a toggle of some sort? Just curious about the details that make it energy and kinetic. Otherwise I find it interesting to have another caliber downsize as there was a LOT of backlash in the real world when militaries switched from 30 cal to .223 (7.62 downsized to 5.56 for NATO/5.45 for Warsaw Pact).

I edited the article to give you the idea of the .17 HMR round. The round is based on our real world counterpart but with small modifications. Like a magnetic tip for example.   I also added details on what the energy part does to the bullet and by itself.

I surely like the amount of detail in the description of the gun itself, lots of statistics that help you know what the weapon is capable off. Though I noticed that you say the stock can hold only 75 rounds, but has a fire rate of about 700-950 rounds/minute. This would mean that soldiers tend to run out of stock ammo fast (About 7-10 seconds before needing to reload) if I'm correct. How do they handle such small stocks in battle when you run out of ammo in less than 10 seconds?

The individual with the weapon will serve as a problem since they would carry a gun eats a good chunk of ammo. So the weapon is better used with hundreds of thousands of soldier’s, since the empire uses them sends waves upon waves of men to hunker down and shoot till one or the other dies.

"[...]kinetic and energy. Making the weapon [...]" you break your sentence up for no reason here, instead try: "[...]kinetic and energy, making the weapon [...]"   In your second paragraph you list the specs of the weapon in short staccato like sentences. For this type of text you would probably do better with a list or table. you can make lists like this:   [ul] [li]Bulletin point 1[/li] [li]Bulletin point 2[/li] [/ul]   Before such a list you could write something like "The weapon has the following specifications:"   Instead of writing "tightly compact areas", consider writing either "compact areas" or "tight spaces" ^-^   This is a solid article, written with a very technical mindset. Personally, I prefer a more literary style, but this can work really well too as it has a manual-like feeling to it, well suited for some scifi settings :3   6kg is pretty hefty, does it come with a strap?

I did some changes and I used you’re "The weapon has the following specifications:".  Now to answer your question about the strap. Nope the straps are not standard issue with the gun. It’s up to the planet if they want to give their soldiers these luxurious items. If the soldier is unlucky and is not giving it, they would often make their own.

hehe :D   It looks much better with the list ^-^

This weapon seems pretty terrifying! Theres a lot of detail, and it gives me a good image what its capable of. It goes through ammo fast though, rather than its weight being an issue, I feel like reloading would be the bigger problem. Also, in the second paragraph it says that its barrel is easily customizable, but then in the third it says that it can't have any barrel attachments. Is this a mistake or am I misinterpreting something?

I would agree the gun eats ammo very fast, so I did change it to make sense. I would say reloading would be difficult but not the problem, it’s more how the soldier reloads. Now the weapon customization. The second paragraph states it’s the railing system around the barrel, not the barrel itself. While the third states you can’t upgrade the barrel. This means you can add a torch around the barrel, but you can’t add a suppressor on the barrel. If that makes sense.

Alright, that makes more sense, for both of those things. I'm not exactly an expert with guns so I'm not surprised I misinterpreted about the attachments.

That’s ok mate, we’re all learning.
