The Graveyard of the Atlantic

In many senses of the world, Kinnakee shouldn't exist.   It's practically a hunk of sand barely clinging to mainland society off the East Coast of North Carolina. It has bitterly cold winters, unforgiving summer heat, and waters that wouldn't hesitate to pull you to the depths below. And who knows what lurks there?   Perfect tourist trap, am I right?   And yet it's still there. And yet people still keep coming back. And if you ask them why this is, their eyes will glaze over for a second before they answer.   "Because it's Kinnakee," they'll say, smiling. "It's wonderful."   You're gonna find out why this isn't true. Or maybe, why it is.
