Boddingtown

The village of Boddingtown, approximately 10 miles north of Gemmingtown, was founded by the Boddington family. The Boddingtons were among the first colonist arriving in Beldam and helped to found it's capital city, Byronne. They are among the oldest and wealthiest families in all of Beldam. Years later, the family relocated to Gemmingtown, where they maintain a presence today. Roughly 80 years ago, Faustus Boddington, his wife Qui, and his three daughters founded a village they called Boddingtown.    Boddingtown was founded near the banks of the river, Ukari. The area is well known for rich deposits of a gas called Emiritum. The gas naturally occurs in cavities in the ground near the Ukari. The Ukari waters are considered tainted, containing traces of poisonous elements and raw metals. The Ukari flows from the western sea and deposits deep into a cavern under the hills east of Boddingtown. Where it goes from there is uncertain.   The Emiritum gas is a peculiar substance that is said to induce strange hallucinations and potentially allow for time-space travel when breathed in directly. It is known to be highly addictive and potentially deadly. When refined, the gas can be used to create potions and elixirs that vary in effect from healing/restoration to providing bursts of great speed or even granting the ability to float. The effects vary greatly upon the procedure and the ingredients used for refining.   The mining of Emiritum has proven to be a great boon to the Boddington family, resulting in financial wealth and the establishment of Boddingtown as a sophisticated and metropolitan village. The mining of Emiritum gas is reported to also have awoken a terrible monster in the depths of the mines and caverns of Boddingtown that the miners and citizens refer to as, the Abbergol. The Abbergol is a worm-like monster that slithers through the mines and tunnels, seeking to devour miners and trespassers. It has a large, circular mouth lined with sharp and ragged teeth. Many deaths and disapperances in and around the Boddingtown mines have been attributed to the Abbergol.
