Godiva Golding

Headmaster Godiva Golding (a.k.a. Captain Golding, Headmaster, Golding)

She came from the sky.   By this point in time, no one was used to seeing anything come from the sky anymore, because the Voyagers— the comical Voyagers, who kept going up there when no one should— would destroy meteorites and asteroids and errant stars before they became a planetary threat. But Lieutenant Golding had been too small to take notice of, not even a blip on a ship's censor, and so she crashed into what was actually a rather busy venue and broke the stage in half.   The unthinkable thing she did, however, wasn't come hurtling down from space. No, the thing that so many people found hard to believe wasn't that she'd broken the stage on which [politician] had been speaking, but rather that she got up after.   She looked... interesting.   Everyone started talking at once. It wasn't because Lieutenant Golding was particularly well-known before this. It wasn't because she was the lone survivor of her crew, and it wasn't because of her brilliance. No one in that crowd, that day, really knew her name, though their curiosity would drive them to learn it. No one in that crowd knew her, but they all thought she looked out of place.   Lieutenant Godiva Golding, it seemed, had both lost and replaced half of her body.
