The Aeliods

A race of thieves and smugglers who live on asteroids between the planetary systems. Barred from colonizing themselves, they sow chaos between the planets but are tolerated due to their unofficial uses via planetary elites. Utilized to sabotage, spy, and steal from other rulers without inciting direct violence. Their ultimate goal is permanent colonization, they must subsist on the meager rewards for their actions which is why they are forced to piracy.

Major Organizations

Melios's Private Pirates: MPP are a growing faction of revolutionaries among the Aeliods. Their leader, Melios, is a tactical genius among his people and has been successful on many raids thus far. He attempts to bring his war into the inner worlds, and eventually gain colonization rights for his people.

History

The Aeliods an offshoot of the J’iar’uk who followed Aeliod Hanshtik Borsumoul after he lost the War of 8 Eyes and was banished to the asteroid colonies at the edge of the universe. This was done due to Aeliod's large amount of fanatic followers remaining a threat to the new galactic government. However, while the Aeliods followed Borsumoul and even took his name, they were not rewarded for their loyalty. Borsumoul refused to hold the mantle of leadership, and fell into a deep depression. He spent the last two decades of his life as a Mootosh dependency.

The Aeliod people themselves formed a series of loose kingdoms and confederations, spreading throughout the outer asteroid belts. Initially they retained some of their former power and prestige, but as Orphelian powers promoted and changed the 9 worlds the Aeliods were left behind. They proceeded to fall far behind the 9 worlds in terms of power and technology, now they are relegated to afterthoughts used to fight proxy wars between more powerful species.

The J’iar’uk from whom they come have changed so significantly, and are so ashamed of their past that they no longer hold any kinship to this splittered faction.
