New Warsaw Colony
New Warsaw Colony was founded on the planet of New Warsaw in 2270. It is the oldest human colony outside the Earth's solar system. Mars colony is older, but it is in the system.
Demography and Population
New Warsaw is inhabited mostly by people of Polish culture. Most of the population is concentrated in New Warsaw City. That fact is the reason for the name "New Warsaw" being used for the whole planet.
Military
The colony is defended by the Polin System Patrol Fleet, which has its base in the planet's orbit. On the ground it is defended by three divisions of professional army and 10 brigades of territorial defence (Obrona Terytorialna in Polish). Territorial Defence is a non-permament volunteer formation. Any adult citizen can serve in it. Members are asked to report for training at least once per month. Additionally. they must report for duty when the governor, Colonial Council or Colonial Defence Commander gives an order.
Technological Level
Biological and chemical research is very advanced in the colony of New Warsaw. It is a result of the effort to contain and eradicate the New Warsaw's hogweed. Biology and Chemistry departments of the New Warsaw University are known throughout the United Republic's space and beyond. Scientists from all over the galaxy come here to participate in conferences and research grants.
Religion
The same as in the rest of the United Republic, New Warsaw has freedom of religion. However, most of its inhabitants are catholic. It is the same as their ancestors on Earth.
