ECNS Wolf
ECNS Wolf is a prototype stealth starship developed by the ECN Research & Development Division. Its name comes from the tactic used by German submarines during World War 2. The ship achieves stealth by masking its heat emissions. Firing a weapon breaks stealth, but it is possible to regain it quickly. Scientists and engineers are working on a system which would allow stealth firing.
Power Generation
The same as every human starship, the Wolf is powered by two reactors. One is a zero-point reactor and it powers the FTL Drive. The other is a fusion reactor, which powers other systems. Both reactors have heat sinks and cooling systems, which allow to achieve stealth.
Propulsion
For sublight speeds, the Wolf uses fusion thrusters, which propel the ship forward. It also has smaller manoeuvring thrusters.
For FTL speeds, it uses the Alcubierre-Reynard Drive.
Weapons & Armament
The ship's main weapon is a railgun mounted on top of it. Additionally, it has two torpedo launchers and two plasma guns capable or firing rapidly.
Additional & auxiliary systems
Heat emissions from the ship's engines are hidden by absorbing it by heat sinks, which transfer the heat to a cooling system. Cooling is done by both a set of fans and a liquid chemical coolant. Most of the time, the process is conducted completely inside the vessel. However, it is required that the heat sinks and coolling systems are regularly vented.
