Crowter "Thunderhawk" '04 Single Action Revolver

n iconic single action revolver, the Crowter '04, affectionately called the "Thunderhawk" after it's distinct maker's mark, is perhaps the most common revolver in use across the Trackless. Firing the .40 caliber Express Navy round, the Crowter '04 features a top-break allowing the entire cylinder to be removed if necessary. Because of this feature, some Republic Navy officers have switched the cylinders in their service weapons to take a .40 caliber Magnum round, a modification meant to give them greater penetration of the water's surface and more stopping power to repel boarding sahuagin.

While not as popular with shootists as the Larence Model 2, the Thunderhawk does have a few dedicated gunfighters who swear by the weapon for its reliability and accuracy. With an eight inch barrel many gunfighter find it too slow on the draw, requiring the gunslinger to lift the weapon just that inch higher than the Model 2, which could easily be the difference between life and death in a gunfight. The argument follows, however, that the longer barrel lends the weapon more accuracy and that a true shootist doesn't simply out-draw their opponent but out-shoots them, accuracy is more important than speed.

Because the Thunderhawk is produced under a government contract using one does come with an implied political quality: if you're wearing a Thunderhawk openly, you're declaring your allegiance to the Republic proudly. While many young explorers and fortune-seekers come to the Trackless feeling exactly that way, some veterans of the War of Federation aren't as enthusiastic about the new government they fall under. For men and women who came south to hide their past, having fought for Tierra Ug'eres, a child wearing a symbol of the new Republic is enough to warrant a harsh punish out behind the local saloon.
