The Warbringer
The Lord of Might and Glory, the Taker of No Prisoners, the Stern Watcher upon the Battlefield
Neither good nor evil, the Warbringer represents the whole of battle: noble knights protecting their charge, marauders who slay the innocent, stoic soldiers who simply fight for country or coin. Any creature who lives by the blade worships him, and no soldier alive refuses to pray in the Warbringer’s name. But he favors only the strong, and encourages his followers not to be limited by the expectations of society, and as such, his temples are few and far between, and followers who ask too much are struck down by their god. The orcs consider the Warbringer their patron god, and depict him as a mighty orc chief, although they are loath to invoke his wrath by praying to him. The Warbringer is also said to be the summoner of storms, earthquakes, and other natural disasters -- tests, according to his doctrine, to ensure that the mighty survive and the weak grow stronger. As such, sailors and explorers, particularly the men of the North, take care to pay heed to the Warbringer for good weather.
Divine Domains
- As his name implies, the Warbringer is associated with war, as well as strength, survival, destruction, and natural disasters.
- Clerics of the Warbringer would almost certainly choose the War domain, or perhaps the Tempest domain. Paladins would swear the Oath of Vengeance, or potentially the Oath of Conquest.
Holy Books & Codes
- The Warbringer concerns himself little with his own worship. He expects only strength from his followers; there is little else to say.
- There is little organized faith dedicated to the Warbringer. It is considered distasteful to pray for his guidance. Mostly, soldiers and warriors make offerings to him, promising to glorify and honor him should they be victorious.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
- The symbol most commonly associated with the Warbringer are a pair of single-bladed battleaxes, crossed over one another. The battleaxe is his favored weapon; many clerics and paladins wield one in combat.
- Few clerics and paladins use holy symbols. The twin-axes motif usually decorates a suit of armor or a shield.
Tenets of Faith
- There is only Strength. To Survive long enough to see the Weak Driven Before You is true Glory.
- Be fearless. Do not shy from danger. A Coward is dies One-Thousand deaths before a Warrior is Slain Once.
- Do not Cry for Help. Do not be Pulled from the Pits of Despair. The Warbringer has given You the Strength You need to Climb.
