The Mad Mistress

Lady Luck, the Maiden of Change, the Lady of Wrath and Laughter

So named for her mercurial behavior, the Mad Mistress holds the title of goddess of change, and oversees all that is impermanent and endless. She is the goddess of choice for gamblers and rogues who get by on good fortune, as well as drunken revelers. As she sees it, inebriation is more than mere distraction – it is a spiritual experience to engage in changing oneself. For the same reason, she is the patron of actors, as well. Joy and excitement are the primary virtues of the Mad Mistress. However, she is also the patron of liars as well, and lunatics revere her for their ‘gifts’ of insanity, and worshiping her is a stigmatizing matter. As such, she has few actual clerics, and most are wanderers. Likewise, her devotees often come at odds with the priests of lawfully-aligned gods, such as the Keeper and the Lawcrafter.

Divine Domains

  • The Mad Mistress represents change and luck, randomness, and the unknown.
  • Most people who pray to her ask for good luck, or wish to curse their enemy with misfortune.
  • Those few clerics dedicated to her would choose between the Life and Trickery domains. The lifestyle of the paladin requires too much discipline and focus for a follower of the Mad Mistress.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

  • The holy symbol of the Mad Mistress is a coin, upon which is the profile of a smiling woman. However, the symbol is two sided; the other face depicts the profile of an angry woman. The faces represent both good and ill-fortune.
  • Good-aligned clerics of the Mad Mistress have symbols with only the face of the smiling woman, while evil-aligned clerics use the side bearing the angry one.

Tenets of Faith

  • Change is Sacred; Never fight it. Moreover, it is not enough to Embrace it. Strive to Change yourself and the World around You. Create Change for the sake of Change.
  • Reject Destiny, Authority and Dogma. It is You who must make your Own Way.
  • Do as Adversaries Do in law: Strive Mightily and Quaff Carouses, for Temperance and Solemnity are the poison of the Soul.
