Valymir Tristane
Valymir Tristane, God-King of the floating empire and savior of skyhaven, was once nothing more than a bard. He spent his days travelling with groups of adventurers, recording their stories so that he might twist them into something more interesting, songs to sing that were, at their hearts, mostly true. He was a liar and a charlatan and, honestly, kind of a shitty bard. Everyone was surprised when the prophecies about the hero who would save this dying world seemed to be referring to him.
He travelled with a paladin of Kolimei, goddess of the forge. This paladin was a famous warrior, and Tristane hoped to write a song that would sweep her off her feet and into his bed. Stories say she almost killed him several times, but that they did eventually fall in love. Some time after Skyhaven ascended, she went missing. The god-king has promised twenty-thousand gold to anyone that finds her.
When skyhaven first ascended, the God-king was nearly omnipresent, always acting where his people could see him, but for the last thirty or so years, he hasn't come out of his castle. Some say he hasn't left the throne room.
For the last twelve years, attempts on the god-king's life have been frequent. It is only in the last three that these attempts have been punished with a swift execution by The Nightwell.
