Hauteur Hills

The Hauteur Hills are a large wilderness region to the south-east of Dalishae Duchy. It also borders the Duchy of Vindemia, and the great Elfwood. It is a wild and mysterious land filled with wondrous and deadly creatures.
There are countless tales of lost ancient ruins and fantastical creatures scattered throughout the Hauteur Hills. Many an adventuring party has ventured out to seek their fortune here. Few have ever returned. And fewer still have come back with anything to show for their troubles. And yet enough come back with wonderous trinkets, wicked scars, and incredible tales to keep the dauntless adventurers heading out to seek for themselves in this peculiar land.

Geography

The Hauteur Hills are grand rolling hills carpeted in a variety of grasses, interspersed with dense groves of oak trees. There are many caves scattered throughout the region, and the extent of the cavern systems is thoroughly unknown.

Ecosystem

The various grasses found in the Hauteur Hills provide sustenance for a wide variety of game animals, which in turn support an assortment of predatory animals. Beyond that, the region is populated by a sizable amount of monstrous beasts and arcane entities.

Localized Phenomena

Ghostly green mists of arcane origin can appear without warning all along the Hauteur Hills. These mists can envelop a group of adventurers suddenly, leaving them disconnected from their surroundings. It is important to note that there are things within these mists. Beyond comprehension and hungry for unwary souls.

Fauna & Flora

In addition to various grasses and trees found in the Hauteur Hills, there is an abundance of rare and potent herbs of useful to both herbalists and alchemists.
There is a large variety of typical wildlife present in the Hauteur Hills, but more noteworthy is the mosty uncatagorized assortment of monstrous and mystical creatures that roam throughout the hills.

Natural Resources

Rare minerals and gems can be found in the various caverns of the region.  Timber from the abundant oak groves are of considerable value, but difficult to extract. 
Alchemists, Loremasters, and bored nobles hold great interest in the monstrous beasts found in these hills. Some find interest in individual parts, others in the entire beast. This alone guarantees a steady flow of adventurers wandering into the hills looking for wealth and fame.

Tourism

Humans come to the Hauteur Hills to hunt monstrous beasts, explore ancient ruins, and visit the holy site of Halowyn's Rest, a temple of the Solune noted for its healing miracles.
Hobgoblin can sometimes be found here trying to retrace the path of Tonkek and find the lost Caverns of Tamagan.
