The northeners

A few of the people in the falling city come from the far north, a place mostly known as a hard and cold place. Only populated with a few villages dotted throughout the mountains, the northeners weren't really known for their grand cities or architecture. What they were known for, however, was their direct and brutal way according to most people who hadn't lived there. Villages always seemed to be on the wrong foot with each other, and from an outsider point of view the northeners look to be as cold as their enviousment. This isn't all true however. In fact, a lot of the traditions from the north focus on family and friends, with whole villages often coming together and supporting each other. Why villages don't get along is usally an individual argument that gathered support from everyone around the people arguing. But you can't deny there are some traditions that are a bit more warlike, since the tough enviourment usually breeds tough people. Many sports and activities are either a show of strenght or strategic wit. Once you again look behind all that, you can see that the competitons aren't as much showing off your individual strenght, even if there is an element of that too, but it's mainly about encouragng each other to be better so they all can stand a higher chance of surviving the cold enviourments. Things like hunting, chopping wood and gathering takes a toll on your body, and if you aren't prepared it could spell your doom. So it's rarely a competition, but a chance for everyone to support each other to improve. When villages are in good footing there's often competitions held between villages, a chance for them to swap tips and ideas on how yo do things effectively.
