The mushrooms of the west

Living in dense and dark forests in the west, the Allanai people are one fo the few with a rich tradition of eating and cooking mushrooms and fungus. Some of them have figured out ways to grow these in the dark shelters in the falling city, and thus the tradition has lived on if in a smaller capacity. Especially during the new moon, a Allanai holiday, it's a strong tradition to cook a mushroom stew. Each family has their own recepies, and they then meet together at a host familys house to share the different stews in a sort of potluck. The mushrooms are not particularaly popular outside of the Allanai, but a few people have found a love form them through friends or even family when celebrating and getting to taste all the different stews. The stews are made from different mushrooms, with different spices and different ingredients, so none is quite like the other. The mushrooms most commonly used however are the Ostskiv, a very small mushroom that grows together on a large lump of mushroom. This means that you get less of the hats on the mushrooms and more of the stalk, which is the best part according to many recepies. These mushrooms are used in everything from stews to soups and pies. Since musrooms don't provide much flavour, Allanai dishes are usually full of different kinds of spices giving more taste to them. Its still not possible to call any outside of the most outrageous dishes spicy, but many are supprised with how much you can do. The mushrooms also give everything a texture a lot of people arn't used to, which for some turns out to be something they love and some something they hate.
