The fashion district

No matter if the end of the world is right around the corner, people still need to get dressed each morning and go about their business. And that means someone has to make said clothes. The fashion district is a fairly small but very active industrial district where the citizens of the falling city can go to buy new clothes for work, everyday wear, or even for special occasions. While not as varied as back when the whole world was part of the fashion market, the fashion district is still surprisingly varied with makers from different cultures letting their heritage influence their designs. The clothing is made to last, and there's plenty of shops offering to repair so you don't have to buy new. Once you do buy new, a lot of it is from recycled materials or leftover fibers from the food industry. The fashion district didn't start out that way, but a single factory making clothes became very popular and other clothesmakers had to move closer to have a chance at grabbing the customers. As more and more stores popped up around the factory, the area became even more appealing and soon the fashion district was born, quickly nicknamed that by the citizens to eventually get the official name changed. Today there's no one store more popular than the others, but instead, each factory has found its own style and niche in the customer base. Of course, the ones catering to cultures from the bigger parts of the world are still bigger, but they're not actively competing with the stores catering to a different crowd and in fact, the standard practice is to recommend each other if a customer is looking for something that particular store can't provide, knowing that the others will do the same.
