Food from the plains
"Food from the plains" is one of the most well used cookbooks drom before the collapse, since a lot of its recepies can still be used without any problems. Originating from the great planes, the recepies are failry simple and made with the hardy plants you could find there. Those same plants now make up a lot of the citys food production, since the fairly dry and windy plains mimic closely the conditions. The recepies are also geared towards giving as much energy as possible per serving, since there were a lot of nomadic tribes using these. Some have complained that the lack of spices makes the meals rather boring though, so many variants have been made where people add their own flavours.
The cookbook has come out in a few different versions, the first one simply removing the recipies that weren't possible anymore and changing a few that were if you supplemented some ingredients. Some people have also written their own recepies into the book, which sometimes have gotten published. Others are however just passed down through the family, or perhaps shared with family friends.
The most popular recepie in "Food from the plains" the Golden Vajer stalks with a sauce made from Tomar seeds. It's simlicity and ability to be altered in a million ways is what made it so popular. Almost everyone has their own personal version, and you'd struggle to find a resturant that didn't serve the dish. Some even have a few different ones to cater towards different tastes.
The cookbook is also famous for its desserts. Making a sort of milk or cream by cooking the leaves of the Equala plant is the base of many of the desserts that are still able to be made, and thanks to it a lot more cookbooks have been written.
