Sunlight Settlement in The Faery Realm | World Anvil

Sunlight

Sunlight is brash and beautiful, caring about outer seeming and appearances. They welcome everyone in, while acting like they are superior to the other courts. Every member of the court, and all visitors, are judged on their appearance regardless of anything else.
The path to Sunlight from the Fair is a straight path of large stepping stones. Guards stand permanently by the open gates between the two oak trees. Oak trees are the symbol of Sunlight Court. They are a sign of our wisdom and courage.
Just like each court has its own tree, we also have our own birds. Woodpeckers are our symbol, though we require nothing of them. They only visit to greet me and I keep them safe in the forest round the mound. Other courts use their birds in other ways. Moonlight, for example, uses her magpies as spies. Dusklight sends out their red kites to hunt for them sometime, or they work to augment them as they do themselves
Once inside, the columned path is lit every few paces. The corridors they passed through were stone on all sides, with columns every ten paces. Between each column, a glowing stone indented in the ceiling lit up the passageway
The court is ruled by Florian ver Argia since the death of his father after the attack on Starlight. While his mother survived, and is nominally regent of the court, she lives in seclusion deep within the mound and refuses to leave. His throne is made of antlers and he is served by brownies. The throne room has plants climbing up the pillars. The ceiling glows a warm orange and pulses in time with the music.
The fae of Sunlight wear sparkling outfits, sparkling headdresses and lots of glitter.

  the royal sleeping quarters.
There were no guards here, as none were thought to be needed so deep into the mound. The king and queen slept in the room on one side and Prince Florian across the hall. Evan scanned the other door, a nursery and playroom he remembered being invited to a few times as a sapling while the adults talked.

It was a small dressing area, with a series of cupboards built into the walls. Unlike at the Dawnlight Court, where everything was slightly pink, here everything was decorated with tinges of yellow and gold. Unable to help herself, she peeked in one cupboard. It was filled with sparkling clothes in all sizes and colours. With a bathing area through an archway off to one side.

One thing you need to know about fae, and Sunlight above all, is that they value what things look like. Almost above all else.
