Chronovine is a species of plant that grows in the ruins of Timaheim. With an ability to feed off age and entropy, one can consider it quite an unusual type of flora.

Discovered by Axilya Brand, she is unsure how it came to being. She believed it to be an unnatural creation, made by something or someone else. But unsure for what purpose.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Chronovine comes in two forms of growth: shrubbery and vines. Shrubs only occur in open areas such as regular soil or spaces with very few walls to cling to. On any vertical surfaces, it will instead root into the walls to support a vine-like growth.

The leaves are naturally slender and grow in large bundles across the plant’s stems. It may also form white flowers made with either twelve or twenty-four petals each.

Biological Traits

Chronovine’s ability to feed off time has the effect of stopping age in everything around it. Anything within a few feet has bodily functions cease to work as a result, including:

• Digestion and most chemical reactions
• Natural healing of wounds and bruises
• Tissue growth & maturation of living matter
• Decay and rot in organic material

The plant appears to grow faster around said conditions too.

Growth Rate & Stages

Chronovine grows and dies in a matter of days. A single specimen can produce a dozen feet of vine every day, with their growth being almost visible to the naked eye.

Dead material also decays similarly, with samples withering away within a week. The only way to preserve a dead specimen is by keeping it in an airtight environment at all times.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The plant does not require much nutrients or water to function, as its primary source of food appears to be time itself. Environments more suspectible to aging seem to provide better nutrients too, such as those with other plants or naturally degrading materials.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

I would propose the idea that this plant could act as an anti-aging product, but its abilities make it indigestible in larger quantities. How I know that is from personal experience and a week of stomach cramps.

One proposed usage for it could be an anti-aging tea, using the leaves to make it. Though due to it shutting down one’s digestion, one may only use small portions alongside regular tea leaves.

Large dosages result in indigestion problems that can last for days on end. Samples also need to remain fresh or else they decay within the stomach itself.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The only known samples of Chronovine live in the ruins of Timaheim. It, however, refuses to grow beyond the town’s borders because of either its rapid life cycle or other unknown reasons.

Man-made Origin?

Axilya Brand thinks Chronovine is a man-made plant, supported by its presence only in Timaheim. Potential ties exist with the Gate to Nowhere, as the plants seem to originate from the structure itself.

Though with no records existing to date back the plant’s origins, tracing this back becomes difficult. Hence why many keep it as a mere theory rather than a straight up fact.
