Humans

Descendants of the humans that escaped to other universes during "The Rapture". They are no longer the dominant intelligent species to exist

Basic Information

Anatomy

Same as normal humans - 2 arms, 2 legs, a head and a torso. Regular male/female anatomy that hasn't changed much

Genetics and Reproduction

Same as before

Ecology and Habitats

Most if not all habitats in other universes have been altered over time before colonies are settled, in order for it to be similar to Earth when it still existed

Dietary Needs and Habits

While the food sources differ from universe to universe, some crops that originated from Earth have been cultivated, mutated, and modified to adapt to the altered environments. Animals have also adapted over time, along with changing names for them. Escaped farm animals also mutated to the point that they're now a naturally occurring species in multiple universes. One universe now has a wild chicken known as a "Vhip", to give an example

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

mixed and varied, the descendants definitely share some similarities with ancestor humans, and some are quite unique.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

No special abilities or senses beyond the average human in reality

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

can become symbionics with liquiforms, just like every other species except Saiconians. Not all that common, however.

Civilization and Culture

Beauty Ideals

Androgyny is praised more often than trying for more masculine or more feminine appearance

Gender Ideals

Some issues regarding rights for both men and women, on their own issues such as custody and access to sex education and reproduction facilities. Both men and women have a problem with the "purebred" Rapttalans, claiming favouritism (no different from reality)

Courtship Ideals

Most human cultures look down upon the arranged marriage system that is common within Elite Rapttalan society, but the youth usually go to venues specifically set up for courting each other, depending on common interests such as video games or dancing. Older generations prefer get togethers in more quiet, open spaces like beaches.

Average Technological Level

while space travel technology, advanced medical facilities, and even weaponry exist, they are quite costly due to regulations and rights of the few symbionics that are willing to live in colonies and cities(as they are living batteries, and to avoid a repeat of "The Rapture") as well as fossilised liquiforms that also act like batteries. The energy symbionics produce crystalises when exposed to CO2, and while they are eco-friendly they take time to produce from their bodies (often growing from areas like their shoulders, face, hair, backs, etc.) Metals and alloys, gas, solar, wind, water, all are still used in terms of energy and resources for weaponry and regular inventions. Medical tech is often based on the healing properties of said crystalised energy, which when released into the blood stream or mixed with certain chemicals, can be used to accelerate the healing process of a person, as well as instantly seal and repair tissue damage on open wounds. Most of human technology after "The Rapture" is reliant on cooperation with fused Symbionic beings, rather than enslavement.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

English, while its origins have been forgotten, is still prevalent among many colonies due to its complexity and exemption from the rules regarding most languages. Unlike Rapttalans, pronoun usage is used in regards to the sex and/or gender of a human, as a common feature among human colonies. Some forms of insults and curse words have changed over time as well

Common Dress Code

Some colonies are more conservatively dressed than others, depending on environment and cultural differences

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Some cultures were lost in The Rapture, although some western and eastern features have been passed on. Colonies that share a planet with another species often adopt the cultural attitudes and beliefs of the locals, instead of forcing their own. In exchange they share their technology with the locals. There have been evidence of attempted genocides in some colonies, however those bubbles are then excluded from contact permanently for violating inter-expansive laws

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Most colonies that share a planet with another intelligent species tend to celebrate the day their colony had been established, as well as union with the local civilisations

Common Taboos

waging genocides and/or enslavement of local intelligent life is an extreme taboo for a colony It is also a taboo, according to some humans, to mix with other species, such as the "purebred" Rapttalans, in personal/romantic endeavours, even if there is actually little harm in doing so (as mutts tend to not be hermaphroditic most of the time, and can reproduce normally).

Common Myths and Legends

very few remaining myths and legends from before The Rapture exist beyond archived information. There are some legends that were retold and some that are newly created.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

While interspecies relations, on the sapient level, can be tense, conservative human colonies shun anything other than formal alliances. More accepting colonies, however, have better deals and relations with other species, even accepting of mutts and interspecies couples. However, humanity no longer feels like the dominant species in The Expanse
