Human Magi
Magi are humans who are able to wield and manipulate the natural force of magic. They were previously referred to as Entherites, the magic offspring of the Coryph.
With the proper training, magi are capable of manipulating the basic elements, such as conjuring gouts of flame and small, localized ice and electrical storms. There are also spells that allow for the temporary reanimation of corpses and the draining of an opponent's life-force. More altruistic magi can use their powers to help and heal, or summon benevolent spirits in times of need. Though they are often ostracized to the point of persecution in some Kingdoms, mages are key for everyday life in Aigea. They serve as its healers, scholars, scientists, and weapons of war.
Magi were once vast in numbers but after the death of the Coryphians they were hunted and persecuted over hundreds of years, causing their numbers to dwindle. Now only 5% of the population is thought to be magi.

History
Magi have been a constant throughout the histories of Aigea. Once so powerful it is said they had their own kingdom in the days of the Old Kingdoms.
It is said that when the Coryphians awoke from their long slumber, the magi joined forces with them. The Corphyians would breed with these ancient magi, enhancing the powers of the off spring they produced. They helped the Corphyians enslave humans and fairfolk alike, ushering in the dark days.
However, not all magi sided with the Coryphians. Some aided the humans and would become enslaved. Magi born to enslaved humans would be taken by the Coryphians and indoctrinated so many would keep their magical abilities hidden or suppressed.
When the uprising and liberation began, most magi fought on the side of the Coryphians. Despite the humans lack of power, their sheer numbers in the uprising and the creation of the legendry weapons would result in the magi falling alongside the Coryphians.
Once the hero king Matheus formed the Kingdom of Enther his friend and fellow hero Rosier would form the first magic guild, The Tower. The Tower Guild would serve as a beacon of magic and magi from all over the kingdom would come to learn and control their magic as well as become an organised force to aid the king. Despite the creation of the guild, many magi opposed the ideologies of the guild and would break away, becoming absconders and hunted.
The famed betrayal of Rosier in 23 ABA fuelled further mistrusted of the magi and tighter restrictions where opposed on those within the guilds. Those outside of a guild protection where persecuted mercilessly.
