Worldbuilders' Guild Hall

The Guild Hall is one of the largest and most architecturally distinctive buildings at the End of the World. Located conveniently close to Smith's Bar, the hall serves as a meeting place and training center for guild members. Lodging is also available in the hall for those members without recourse to better facilities.

Purpose / Function

The Guild Hall's fundamental purpose is to serve as a place for guild members to gather and engage in conversations regarding the arts and sciences of worldbuilding. Important news relevant to guild members can be found posted at the front of the building. Specialized workshops have opened over the last year and a display space for guild members to display their crafts is one of the newest additions.   Later, it was observed that many guild members were not returning to their home worlds on a daily basis and efforts have been made to house those who elect to stay over. The present arrangements are far from perfect, but the guild members will have to make do unless they wish to contribute to building separate lodging.
Well, the Guild Hall is where we discuss, uh, important guild business. Things like, uh, well, you know, important things. It's not the place for idle chitchat about memes or movies or any of that sort. Like I said, only important things. No, no. That sort of prattle about everyday nonsense is best left in the Inn or at Smith's. Yes, yes. Up at the hall, it's nothing but important talk, all the time. — Aleana Thiderbahn

Alterations

The building is perpetually growing with the increasing number of guild members. These expansions are primarily located on the lower floors, as the number of occupants of the upper floors is fixed by law. Unfortunately, the guild membership has a tendency to grow in spurts, often when the staff is busy with a major festival or other event.   As a result, not all of the improvements have been made with the same attention to detail, which has led to certain incidents which are best forgotten.

Architecture

It's a bit unfair to say that the Guild Hall has an architecture. It would be more accurate to say that parts have accreted over time according to the whims and abilities of the supervising staff. The core of the hall was built in a Brutalist style which was intended to reflect the strength of the guild as well as its frugality.   The upper floors represented some of the earliest additions and they were done in a Muscovite Baroque fashion because the builder misheard the comment "Criminy, we're broke" as "Kremlinly Baroque". Admittedly, the gold domes are impressive when the dawn's first light hits them, although most of the members would have preferred that the money had been spent on functional indoor plumbing.   The most recent expansions have been done in the Cistercian style, which avoided excessive ornamentation in order to inspire quiet contemplation. In reality, most of the contemplation inspired has focused upon whether windows are actually excessive ornamentation.
RUINED STRUCTURE
Most objective observers would say that the building became a ruin on that day when the first two stones were stacked.
