Dwelling of Zeus Building / Landmark in The Elysium Archipelago | World Anvil

Dwelling of Zeus

Located in the main castle, it acts as a main base of operations for those who fight against the forces of darkness and those who oppose Nether. Within is the most powerful source of Aether as the root of the main castle is the closest to the sleeping god Aether who rests at an extremely deep yet unknown distance from the Isle of Dawn. Some say it is because Zeus devoured the power that Aether created with Kronos, the connection validated from some sentimental quality. In any case, it is the most safe and secure place to hide against the darkness. The room is completely circular, the ceiling being made of glass clear enough to warrant someone saying that there is no ceiling yet strong enough to be defined as bullet proof.

Purpose / Function

To act as a base of operations for the heroes and protagonists of the Arch.

Architecture

The insides of the dwelling are a call back to Greek royalty, which it what those who inhabit it are meant to feel like. Every hallways, corridor and chamber mirrors that of a Greek-influenced castle that may have been owned by royalty.

History

It is this building that gave Sinister Maharana the most grief after his initial construction and what most convinced him that the Pantheon are working behind the scenes, trying to meddle with his plans. The Dwelling of Zeus is known to be the one place on the Isle of Dawn that is closest to the Greek God, Aether, in terms of feeling, absorbing and sensing the primordial energy he perpetuates. After years of existing, it has rarely had its share of visitors but one person was able to battle past the swans and disregarded the warning of the Athenites who tidy the place from time to time. The rogue photographer who worked for the Apollo City Chronicles was able to snap only a few photos before he happened upon the well of Aether that resides in the center of the building. After that day, he never returned and people began to talk about whether or not he was punished by the gods or if Aether himself awakened to destroy him. Because of this story, many people are wary of traveling to the cherished base of heroes. But there are some who are only fueled by the urban legend, hoping to become worthy enough to step into Zeus' halls.
