The Dirge

The Dirge, also known as the Griefsinger, is a commonly shown figure throughout Elphead imagery and designs. Their face is obscured by a featureless veil and they are often depicted shepherding the dead, and are thus assumed to be the god of death or the afterlife. They seem to be an opposing figure to the Dayspring, but are usually depicted as passive.   The Dirge was equally as passive during the Doomsday Century, known to never have gotten involved in the fighting, but instead seeking refuge in the Astral Plane. After the end of the Doomsday Century they joined their fellow Elphedver in walking the Material Plane. Some scholars have claimed that their passive nature and connection to the inevitable indicates that they might also be a deity that resides over fate, and not death at all.
