The Ebon Nexus

A series of solar systems connected by Void Bridges. No one is sure if the Nexus takes place in one Galaxy, or if it's spread out amongst several galaxies.   The bridges that close the gap between several civilizations and species has lead to promising alliances, powerful citizens, and fearsome bloodshed. The strife and tribulations of the denizens continue to be passed down through the ages, with heroes rising and falling, entire civilizations collapsing, and new discoveries being found every day.   Something dark lurks in the void, however, it's presence only witnessed in offhand accounts, and whispered in murmurs amongst the farthest reaching explorers. Many link it to the disappearance of an ancient race, while others attribute it to the Xyl, a hivemind race with seemingly no leader that continue to plague worlds all over the network.
