Yusex
Basic Information
Anatomy
Yusexes are presumed to be a prehistoric species of bird, reptile, or mammal similar to a pterodactyl in outward appearance though much smaller. Their heads are disproportionately large and heavy compared to the rest of their body. On average they have a 5 to 6-foot wing span and are 2 to 4 pounds in weight. They appear to be furless and completely eyeless and locate others through a heightened sense of smell and possibly echolocation. Their skin varies from a pale translucent white to a muddy reddish color.
Ecology and Habitats
Yusexes live solely within the trachea and esophagus of the World Eater. How they came to be here is unknown as the World Eater does not know of their existence. Through heavy presumptions, they appear to have a service-resource mutual relationship, where the Yusexes assist in the breaking down of large carcasses within the World Eater and they receive sustenance.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Yusexes are carnivores with a strong preference for consuming rotting meat. Their diet consists of a variety of marine life, such as fish, whales, sharks, rays, dolphins, and anything else that is consumed by the World Eater. How they obtain water for drinking is unknown. Either they are capable of drinking salt water like the World Eater or they have a natural filtration system in order to remove the salt from the sea water.
Civilization and Culture
History
Very little information is known about this species as there are currently only three living beings who know of their existence. Freya, Hawke, and Yrsa. The two latter briefly viewed the creatures as they traveled through the World Eater's trachea. As they were otherwise occupied, they did not stop to study the creatures.
When Yrsa revisited the World Eater and asked about the creatures, he appeared to have no knowledge of them and has never seen or heard of them before.
