Vannar Steel

Properties

Material Characteristics

When found in nature, Vannar steel can be observed in a liquid state. The liquid form is very light and defies the gravity of several planets. Once collected, the Vannar steel can be solidified through heating. Molds are used to shape the Vannar steel into more manageable shapes.

Origin & Source

Vannar steel originates from the realm of Vanaheim and can be found on several planets within the realm.

Life & Expiration

Vannar steel does not have a known deterioration rate when contained within Vanaheim. If this material is taken out of Vanaheim, it deteriorates at different rates depending on the environment of the new location. In Midgard, Vannar steel seems to hold up just as long as it does in Vanaheim. Whereas in Hel, it deteriorates quickly and evaporates into a gas.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Vannar steel is used for a variety of things such as weapons, spacecraft, buildings, and anything the steel can be molded to.   Vannar steel is not commonly used within Vannaheim due to the destructive means of harvesting the material from nature. Typically this resource is only used for military or royal purposes.

Industrial Use

Vannar steel sourced from nature must be placed into a mold and then heated into a solid in order to control and contain it. The molds are typically square or rectangular in shape similar to gold bars of Earth. This makes it easier to transport, manufacture, or store.

Environmental Impact

Vannar steel, when in its natural liquid form, can be found in "pools" inside the outer layer of the Vanaheim planets. These pools range from the size of small puddles to massive lakes. In order to harvest the steel in its liquid form, some of the above lands must be destroyed to pull the steel upwards. Because the steel doesn't amass in one liquid form, several holes are dug to quicken the process of extracting the liquid steel. Once extracted sink holes typically form a few months to years afterward causing an environmental hazard for those who live nearby.
