Dario Wolfdog

"The intelligence, regalness, independence, and danger of a wolf combined with the loyalty, diversity, companionship, and obedience of a dog. All in one package. That's a Dario." - Costia Griffin

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Darios vary greatly depending on the generation and the mixture within the individual.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Dario Wolfdogs(Darios) are mainly carnivorous animals like their wolf ancestors but can consume and derive nutrients from vegetables and fruits. They have shown a preference for raw meat.

Additional Information

Darios are the result of approximately 3 decades of dog and wolf breeding. Their wolf heritage is still close to the surface and they are often bred with full wolves as well as other Darios.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Dario Wolfdogs are a very versatile breed and can do almost anything with the right dog and the right training. More common uses include

Darios are the most commonly used breed when it comes to anything security-related in Dovahnor. From guarding to military-trained attack dogs, their natural sense of suspicion and wariness has made them excellent for this line of work and was their initial purpose when created.

Darios, when trained well enough, can hunt and kill large prey animals without human guidance and not eat what they kill. Younger dogs will usually start out as retrievers in order to learn not to consume what they catch. Reliability and independence are strong traits within this breed.

Livestock herding/protection

Darios work well with various livestock, from chickens to bison, as their intelligence and pack mentality allow them to work together to usher animals wherever they want them to go. They are also extremely protective of what they consider theirs and will dive headfirst into danger in order to protect their pack.

Search and Rescue

With a strong sense of smell and the ability to travel far and quickly over different types of terrain, Darios have become amazing search dogs. They track everything from missing people to bombs and drugs with a pass rate stronger than any other breed of dog.

Darios can rarely become therapy dogs and service dogs. However, these Darios are considered outliers and the exception. Due to their high activity level and need for strong leadership they do not do well with owners who need them for medical reasons. They can sess out weaknesses in their owners and if physically or mentally debilitating Darios will not hesitate to go rogue and do as they please. However, they have been used to sniff out some infectious diseases before the beginning of visible symptoms.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Dario Wolfdogs only reside in Dovahnor at they are original breed created by Costia Griffin and Wolf Taylor.

Average Intelligence

Dario Wolfdogs possess above-average amounts of intelligence. They are easily trained but require a firm hand and constant reinforcement during training. After learning what is expected of them, they perform their duties without being asked. However, their intelligence can often get them in trouble.
