After the assassination of almost the entire royal family and the fall of the Cadrial Empire, the newly founded New Cadrial was determined to not let history repeat itself and thus created the Nalmis Guard. The guard protects the royal family of New Cadrial at all times, even within their own home.

Composition

Manpower

The Nalmis guard is made up of anywhere from thirty to fifty people. Each member of the royal family often has three or more guardspeople with them at all times and the sovereign has at least double this number. Many guards are flame or earth touched as they have natural weapons in the form of their elemental magic against clockwork assassins.

Weaponry

Nalmis guards wield bows and spears; they carry a sword for when a spear won't suffice. Additionally the carry several daggers on them in case of an emergency.

Structure

All guards are fairly autonomous so that a chain of command won't impede their ability to protect the royals. They have a leader who makes plans for high risk scenarios and discusses the guards concerns with the sovereign.

Training

The guards are trained to root out assassins, particularly clockwork ones. They hone their senses, learn to pick out who may not be who they say they are, memorize the palace's layout so well that they can navigate the palace blind and more. They are well trained in how to fight clockwork soldiers, knowing where most clockwork's weaknesses are, practicing finding the gaps in their armour, and using materials like sand and gravel against them.
